Babyworld

We are nearly two weeks now in Ouaga. At least the city is bigger than we thought and there are quite some weird but interesting architectures. We have seen two nice theater pieces and have been twice to the cinema, and spent some evenings in local dancing bars where most of the people are just sitting around doing nothing, while street-kids going around to sell telephone-cards or tissues!

At least working in the street-kids-association was not possible, but the responsable brother Bene connected us to another project in an orphanage home ruled by sisters of st. francois d'assise. There we spent the last 2 weeks feeding, holding and looking after 15 sweeeet babies between 1 and 6 month (I could take them all home!) Sadly to know that some of them were found abandoned in the street or people were giving them to the sisters because of inszest or the parents died. but it's also good to see that the babies are in good hands there.

We are sleeping nearby at the hostel of a dispensary, where  we can use a kitchen and the fridge! (this is really luxury!)  There are a lot of mission-sisters and foundations, ruling hostels, schools, dispensaries, orphanages and a lot other helpful things, it's quite a nice community!

In the evening we go mostly out for eating. You can find a lot of improvised restaurants in the streets where they sell grilled beef sticks, rize, spaghetti or kuskus with sauce, mostly meat added, also grilled chicken and sometimes fried yams, banana or potato. this is a lot less expensive than buying stuff in the supermarket!

next week we will make a little visit at pays dogon in the south-east of mali.
